SPARKS FLY ONCE MORE AS START UP BUSINESS CASTS A SOLID FUTURE FOR SCOTLAND’S IRONWORKS INDUSTRY
Ballantine Castings Ltd. is the UK's foremost producer of high quality Iron Castings for number of industry sectors throughout the UK. Ballantine Castings Ltd. specialises in making castings for a number of key industries; railway casting, ornamental castings, engineering castings, architectural castings and drainage castings.
The foundry operates two 3 tonne induction furnaces capable of melting 24 tonnes of iron per day in order to meet demand. The main grades that we operate to are Cast Iron Grade 200, 220 and 250, Ductile Iron Grade 420/10, 500/7 and 400/18 in addition to being able to make castings from aluminium and bronze.
Our 3 individual moulding spheres mean that we are able to simultaneously service a number of industry sectors to the highest standards. We offer traditional greensand moulding, a medium-high volume airset plant and a specialist section for heavy casting services. This means we are extremely versatile and can cater to any requirement.
The former Ballantine Bo’ness Iron Company had a history stretching back over 200 years and has produced bespoke specialist ironworks for projects in the UK, including the cannons at Edinburgh Castle, refurbishment of Westminster Bridge (for which it was awarded a Heritage Award for Infrastructure), restoration and refurbishment of North Bridge in Edinburgh, the Royal Mews canopies at Buckingham Palace, as well as international projects in Sweden, Greece, Bermuda, Kuwait and Jeddah. Works from Ballantine Bo'ness Iron Company can be proudly seen on this website.
