Skills & Services - Moulding
We have three main sets of moulding skills in the foundry in addition to a full time team of core makers. All moulders are time served and experts in their chosen field; many are 3rd, or even 4th, generation foundry workers.
Traditional Greensand Moulding
Here castings are made as they would have been since the industrial revolution. Low to medium volume work carried out by highly skilled, time served craftsmen.
Pattern Flow Airset Plant
A limited number of patterns circulating around a chemical sand mixer. Excellent for heavier section and deep work as the sand sets to a concrete like finish providing a high quality casting in soundness, dimensional accuracy and surface finish. Medium volume.
Heavy Casting Section
Low volume production of large castings such as lamp-posts, post boxes, large diameter drainage castings, heavy engineering castings and many more. Carried out by highly skilled moulders in air set sand to ensure tolerances are met to +/- 1mm.
We can also offer services in traditional blacksmithing.
By fusing traditional craftsmen’s techniques with the most modern foundry technologies we can create the most intricate and durable architectural metalwork. Please see out catalogue or our case studies section to view examples of our moulding skills.
