Cleveden Crescent, Glasgow
Supply and fit of panels, gates and lighting columns

This was a challenging project in the heart of the West End of Glasgow. Given the size of the crescent, the undulating ground and the Victorian heritage of the street itself many allowances had to be made for the project to be run smoothly.

Ballantine’s were responsible for the pattern making, supply and site fixing of just under 300 metes of straight and raking panels. Each panel was 1.3 metres long and had to be an exact match of the original ironwork that adorned the Victorian tenements. The ironwork produced also included 79 ornate end-posts, 28 hinged gate posts, lamp columns and 28 gates. We also re-created the old lion foundry railings and gates to the house frontages, which are very much in harmony with their surroundings thanks to the floral detailing. The street has now been fully reinstated to its former beauty and once again stands as a testament to the Victorian ornate ironwork so commonplace throughout the UK.
