Full refurbishment

This was the replacement of the parapet and fascia of a listed structure in the centre of Paisley in the shadow of the famous Paisley Abbey. It is a high profile structure visible from all angles and had to be finished to the highest standards in addition to meeting all the modern structural requirements.

New castings were made to exactly match the old but were made in 400/18 ductile iron which is flexible like steel and has the same high impact resistance. In total over 35 tonnes of castings were made and delivered over a 4 month period. We assembled the parapet and fascias onto the renewed substructure and the end result is terrific. All of the patternwork, consultancy, moulding, fitting and site erection were handled in house (please see our skills and services section) and the project was completed on time and in budget.

We were awarded a Saltire Society Commendation for the work carried out and were also filmed by ITV in the run up to the bridge's grand opening.
